The hatches between the two docked space crafts opened late today, as the crew of the international space station shook hands and passed out hugs to the crew of Discovery.
The doorway from Discovery to the station opened at 7:01 pm ET, as the complex flew 221 miles above the southern Pacific Ocean.
"We've got a lot of work to do," stated Discovery commander Lee Archambault. "We're looking forward to it, but this is a very special moment."
