Discovery's spacewalking astronauts Steve Swanson and Richard Arnold made an electronic installation house call in space as they connected power and data cables from the newly installed set of solar arrays to the space station this afternoon.
Orbiting the earth at an altitude of 220 miles high, Discovery's astronauts departed the station's American airlock - called Quest - grabbed their tools and moved into position to help guide and connect the fourth huge set of solar arrays.
Called the Starboard 6 (S6) Truss, it was connected to the preexisting S5 Truss which is connected on the other side to S4 - which supports a duplicate of the same solar arrays. View the NASA space station graphic in my story above.
