Atlantis Moved to the VAB Today

The orbiter Atlantis was moved from the orbiter processing facility to the vehicle assembly building today to be attached to a fuel tank and boosters in preparation for her May launch on the Hubble servicing mission.

On March 31st, the entire STS-125 shuttle stack will be rolled out to her seaside launch pad 39A.

Launch is currently targeted for May 12th at 1:11 pm EDT. Two days later, Atlantis will catch up with the Hubble Space Telescope and grapple it for berthing into the mid section of the payload bay. Five planned spacewalks will then follow to both install new, more modern equipment and replace a computer which crashed last fall.
